Hi Elizabeth here,

Buffalo down is awesome!  It lies between cashmere and qiviut in softness -
I love to knit with it because I love to hold it in my hands.  We have both
roving (for the experienced spinner) and yarn (for any level of knitter or
weaver.)  We also offer felted pieces that can be used in basketry or
weaving.

If you are looking rugged durability, we have whole hair buffalo fiber (the
down and 4 different kinds of guard hair blended together.  You would not
want to wear this mixture next to your skin, but it makes great rugs and
saddle blankets.

To anticipate a follow-up question, buffalo fiber comes in only one color
right now, a warm reddish-brown.  Dyeing and/or bleaching it tends to
coarsen it, and we're not willing to make that trade-off.  I am working with
our processor to produce batts of down, so I can add in other fine,
short-stapled fibers and introduce colors that way.

You may be a little surprised at the cost The amount of processing involved
is staggering.

Please contact me with further questions - I love to talk about buffalo!

Elizabeth
