In addition to all the wonderful people who actually make the yarns and rovings for us, Buffalo Gold has a unique crew of people who do an indescribeable job of actually harvesting the raw fiber. They are affectionately known as the "Barn Rats" because the journey of Buffalo Gold starts in the hide processing barn. It is not a pretty job nor for the weak of stomach. Many have come, but few have stayed. Those who have chosen to continue working there need to be recognized. Without them, we have none of the beauty and softness that becomes Buffalo Gold premium fibers.
Barbara Siebenhausen ; In addition to being well on her way to being an accomplished buffalo knitter, silk-screen designer, jeweler, and weaver, Barbara spends what little free time she has raising and competing with VSE's also known as miniature horses. Cowgirl, Barbara's 44" mare, is consistently top in her class in driving trials.
Brian Bowden : The newest member of the Buffalo Gold barn rats. Brian enjoys fishing, horseback riding, and Coors Light, however, the best recommendation is the energy he puts in to helping his mother Dena Bowden with all of the many family business interests. Brian, is now the logistics coordinator for Buffalo Gold, who will oversee the fiber harvest, no matter where it takes place.
Ron Miskin : Like so many others of this day, Ron put the rat race of better pay behind him when he sold out his partnership in a successful restaurant chain to spend more time with his family. His web design and computer talents were put to use helping father Cecil in the very early moments of Buffalo Gold. Looking at other fiber company web sites and data, Ron realized that there very well could be Gold in buffalo ... and into the barn he came. He greatly enjoys scuba diving with his wife, Theresa and spends as much time as possible underwater.
and the herd bull of the operation Cecil Miskin: as a way to retire from his real estate litigation practice, Cecil started by picking up the shed pieces of buffalo down off the fencelines of his Texas ranch and selling them on e-bay. If you haven't heard this entire story yet..... please call 817-992-8220, and make him share it with you. Actually, it's very interesting (and no one tells it like he does... or as often).
